Your donation to the Verna J. Kirkness Education Foundation helps empower First Nations, Métis, and Inuit high school students by providing them with transformative educational experiences.

A unique part of the VJKF Program is that we do not ask for students’ grades. Instead, students are selected based on a personal essay, where they share their dreams for after high school and how participating in the VJKF Program could guide their post‑secondary journey.

Your support makes this possible. Every dollar donated goes directly toward delivering our programs. We rely on the dedication of volunteers, including our Board of Directors, who work hard to keep administrative costs as low as possible. We do not use third‑party fundraising organizations.

All donations are eligible for a tax receipt.

How Your Donation Helps

Your donation directly supports:

  • Scholarships for Indigenous grade eleven students to attend a week-long university experience.

  • Travel, meals, accommodation, and programming costs — ensuring no financial barriers for participants.

  • A safe, supportive environment, including cultural events and traditional feasts hosted by Indigenous student centers.

We operate with an annual budget of approximately $500,000, with over 80% allocated directly to program delivery. 45% of program funding is contributed by our university partners; your donation bridges the gap.
